Our Story

TerraGnar was founded by Scott in Fruita, Colorado, out of pure frustration with tailgate bike pads that cause more damage than they eliminate and clunky hitch racks that fail when it matters most. As passionate mountain bikers, Scott and his wife Jess knew there had to be a better solution — one that truly protects bikes, trucks, and gear while performing exactly as intended on the way to epic trails, over potholes, and on rugged roads.

What began as a cardboard mockup in the garage progressed through wooden prototypes and multiple 3D-printed iterations into a market-ready flagship product. Jess played a key role inspiring the design and vision, and the company gained significant momentum through a strategic partnership with the McDonough family, who bring formidable business expertise.

Our flagship product is patent pending, and we’re thrilled to launch and showcase it at the Bentonville Bike Fest 2026.

Who We Are

Scott brings a rare combination of hands-on leadership, entrepreneurial experience, and creative problem-solving to TerraGnar. He retired as a Fire Captain after 20 years of service, where he honed problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure. Scott has built and sold three companies, served as COO of a startup financial technology company, and continues to thrive in real estate sales on the Western Slope of Colorado. These diverse experiences shape TerraGnar’s product development, branding, operations, and long-term strategy.

Scott is also a REALTOR® with The Christi Reece Group, helping fellow riders find their home base in Grand Junction.

Jess is a healthcare leader, entrepreneur, and outdoor enthusiast who loves building things that improve people’s lives. She and her husband, Scott, have worked side by side across multiple business ventures—including managing short-term rentals from the mountains of Wyoming to the coast of Costa Rica. Those experiences taught them adaptability, grit, and the value of creating memorable experiences—principles they carry into this company today.

Together Scott and Jess channel their shared love for mountain biking and outdoor adventure into creating gear that genuinely elevates the riding experience. Based in Fruita, Colorado — surrounded by world-class trails and the rugged beauty of the Western Slope — they test and refine every product in the same demanding conditions our customers face daily.

What Drives Us

At TerraGnar, we don’t settle for “good enough.” We build solutions that actually work better — designed by riders, for riders, with uncompromising focus on durability, innovation, and real-world performance. Whether you’re shuttling bikes to the trailhead, exploring new singletrack, or protecting your investment after a big day in the dirt, our gear is made to be trusted.

We’re a small, passionate team rooted in authenticity, family, and the outdoor lifestyle that defines Colorado. From garage prototypes to the trail, every decision is guided by one question: How do we make this radically better?

Welcome to TerraGnar. Let’s get after it.
